Yoga Nidra to Reduce Stress

We will begin this class with gentle movement, helping to release tension from our bodies. We will use specific breathing techniques to activate the parasympathetic nervous system (anti-stress response). Then we will settle in for a guided, restorative rest in Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra, which means yogic sleep, is a state of deep relaxation. It takes you into the healing space between wakefulness and sleep. Your body is completely still and asleep, while your mind is conscious of this deep relaxation. After waking, we will learn about why this practice is so beneficial for our own self-healing and how it helps to reprogram how our nervous system responds to stress.

Foam to Fascia

Release**Restore** Rebalance** your body from the inside-out.  Foam to Fascia is a guided release class incorporating compression techniques to revive and renew the synergy of your body.  Using a medium density foam roller, we will systematically work though the entire body, incorporating pilates to strengthen as we rebalance and release stuck tissue. Fascia plays an important role in the support and function of within our bodies. In a healthy state, the fascia is relaxed and wavy in configuration. It has the ability to stretch and move without restriction. When the body experiences physical or emotional trauma, scarring, or inflammation, the fascia loses its pliability. It becomes tight, restricted, and a source of tension to the rest of the body.  This class aims to revitalize the fascia tissue, create better flexibility and freedom with all movement.

Our instructor:

Logan LeCompte

As a student athlete playing soccer at the University of Kentucky my young adulthood was infused with academic discipline and physical determination. Spending almost a decade as a soccer coach was my entry point or portal into facilitating group fitness experiences.

Pursuing more dynamic training on group fitness, I have since become a certified HIIP (High Intensity Interval Program) Fit instructor from Kyle House Fitness. I am also a credentialed TRX Suspension Group Training Coach. TRX allowed me to compose a creative physical arts class that combined fun movements with challenging bodyweight positions.

One of the most challenging mind ~ body trainings in my life was completing a 10 day "Vipassana" silent meditation retreat. In these 10 days, I learned how to practice meditation and seek truth internally. This mindful practice resonates in the "no judgement" movements and meaning that surrounds the time of growth and well being.

My Masters in Education has a specific focus on curriculum and instruction. So, I'm driven to develop my art of teaching with a focus on learning not only with the head but more importantly with the hands and heart.

Yoga Nidra - Self Care

In this class we will begin by moving gently, focusing on yoga poses that will help release tension from your body. Then we will settle in for a guided, restorative rest in Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra is the practice of sacred sleep. It takes you into the healing space between wakefulness and sleep. Your body is completely still and asleep, while your mind is awake and conscious of this deep relaxation. After waking, we will have a short discussion about what brain waves. We will learn about which brain waves we use in Yoga Nidra to help bring our awareness beyond the analytical mind (take attention away from the outer world) and into the inner world of thoughts and feelings. In this space we can create lasting change in our beliefs and perceptions about how things are.

POUND for Adventure!

28th Street Barre is hosting an amazing community event to support Wild Hearts Idaho (WHI). Caitlyn Scales will be leading a POUND class to help raise money for WHI! Participants will have the opportunity to do a team building activity that sheds light on elements of privilege in the world and the importance of a mindset of generosity and giving for all. This experience will set the tone for why supporting others in the world is important and how we can choose - even in the smallest ways - to be a person who values the spirit of giving.

Class details:

POUND provides the perfect atmosphere for letting loose, getting energized, and rockin' out! Instead of listening to music, you become the music in this full-body workout inspired by yoga and pilates movements. Using lightly weighted drumsticks, POUND transforms the art of drumming and rhythm into an incredibly fun way of working out.

Organization details:

Wild Hearts Idaho is a Boise-based non-profit with a mission to grow hearts for leadership through exploring Idaho's wild places. WHI is a girl-focused and girl-led. WHI impact is centered on building leadership skills in teen girls, ages 12-18, through outdoor adventure. We combine Outdoor Adventure + Girl Leadership + Community to create engaging and supportive experiences for girls to explore, grow, and lead. When you give a gift to Wild Hearts Idaho, you are saying yes to Idaho adventure, yes to opportunity for girls, and yes to a rising generation of female leaders.

This is a FREE event however we hope for at least a $20 donation to WHI as all proceeds to this event go directly to WHI! This event is for ages 10-18.
